Gop spin not enough, actions speak louder than words
Pemberton) Pemberton Township Council President Diane Stinney today called the response from the GOP Spin Machine woefully inadequate. As reported in several media outlets including CNN and the Associated Press, the Pemberton Township Republican website recently displayed a statement which said, “Obama loves America like O.J. loved Nicole.”
The statement was removed when Democrats and residents expressed outrage over the blatantly racist connotation. GOP Party Boss Bill Layton issued an apology when contacted by the media but attempted to brush the incident aside and made no indication that any discipline would be handed down to the Pemberton Township Republican organization responsible for the content of the site.
“Given the nature of the shameful and offensive content, I am calling for the resignation of everyone responsible for the website. I expect Freeholder Director Aubrey Fenton and Chairman Bill Layton to join me in this call,” said Stinney.
“I unequivocally reject the GOP claims that this was a joke. I am appalled that such an egregious action garners little more than a dismissive statement from the Burlington County Republican Spin Machine. The Republicans must know that there needs to be accountability for this type of behavior,” said Stinney.
“Our country is facing a recession; our taxes keep rising; families have to work harder and harder to protect their children from crime and it’s so important to show people that actions like this are not acceptable,” Stinney concluded.
